iSEAP™ ECG Monitoring Algorithm from EDAN

iSEAP™ ECG Monitoring Algorithm, also known as informational Smart ECG Analysis Program, is the ECG monitoring algorithm developed by EDAN.

iSEAP™ is employed on the full range of EDAN multi-parameter patient monitors for 3/5/12-lead ECG monitoring. Besides monitors, it’s also utilized in the present EDAN ECG stress test system. It consists of four different algorithms optimized specially for ECG signal detection, ECG signal categorizing, ECG signal calculation, and ECG monitoring result output.
Based on clinical oriented designs and cautious clinical researches, iSEAP™ shows great performance in ECG monitoring, especially in interference resistance, arrhythmia detection, ST analysis, pacemaker detection, heart beat sound detection, and HR calculation.

Interference Resistance
During ECG monitoring, a lot of interferences will affect the readings. iSEAP™ is designed to overcome these interferences while assuring the accuracy of ST calculation in different ECG filtering modes (monitoring, diagnostic, surgery). It especially brings outstanding resistance ability against the interferences as below:
Interferences that could affect the heart beat detection and gives lower HR readings.
Interferences that could bring false alarms, such as motion interference, AC interference, ESU interference, EMG interference, and so on.
Interferences brought by other devices or medical operations which are always found during surgeries, or during critical cares.

Arrhythmia Detection
Focusing on ECG monitoring, iSEAP™ gives immediate and accurate detections of various arrhythmias caused by organic heart disease, anesthesia/surgeries, electrolyte disturbance, low body temperature, hypoxemia, and side effects and so on.
Sometimes, external interference may bring false alarms as ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, ventricular premature, cardiac arrest, and so on. iSEAP™ will differentiate the interferences and avoid the false alarms.

ST Analysis
The unique ST segment templates from iSEAP™ improve the ST analysis accuracy. It recognizes ST changes immediately for subjects suffering acute myocardial infarction, acute coronary syndrome, ischemia myocardial, pericarditis, cardiomyopathy, and so on.
The ST readings are with very high consistency on the same subject in different filtering modes (monitoring, diagnostic, surgery).

Pacemaker Detection
For patients with single/dual/three/four-chamber pacemaker, iSEAP™ detects the pacemaker signal immediately and accurately.
For patients without pacemaker, iSEAP™ rules out the external inferences and avoid false pacemaker detections.
With the combination of high-frequency sampling, high-precision detection, and subtle interference resistance, iSEAP™ makes the pacemaker detection more accurate.

Heart Beat Sound Detection
For patients with tachycardia, bradycardia, atrial flutter, etc., iSEAP™ makes sure the heart beat sound fits exactly as the real heart beat. You can even tell the heart rate with the heart beat sound alone.
The heart beat sound detection algorithm is cognate with the heart rate detection algorithm. The two algorithms correct each other to ensure acute heart beat detections.
Patients with giant T waves could confuse the ECG monitoring and ends up with false heart beat sound and false HR readings. iSEAP™ differentiates the T waves and ensures the accuracy.

HR Calculation
For patients with tachycardia, bradycardia, atrial flutter, etc., iSEAP™ makes sure the heart beat sound fits exactly as the real heart beat. You can even tell the heart rate with the heart beat sound alone.

Even for patients with extreme low heart rates, such as patients with atrioventricular block (especially for complete atrioventricular block), sinus bradycardia, etc., iSEAP™ still provides accurate HR readings.
For patients with giant T waves, iSEAP™ will identify the T waves and avoid false heart beats. Such ability makes iSEAP™ perform better for patients with ischemic T waves, myocarditis, hyperkaliemia, early repolarization syndrome, and so on.
